Abstract

This article examines the impact of work commitment on the professional stress of middle managers
in public organizations. The results of the quantitative survey carried out among 180 managers show
that dedication and job involvement have an effect
on their stress levels. Firstly, this research work puts
forward proposals for the prevention of stress by
enhancing the meaningfulness of work and, secondly, the reduction in number of obligations and responsibilities. The purpose of these recommendations is to revitalize the ‘strategic player’ role of
managers in carrying out public service missions.
