Abstract

The democratization of digital technology and digital tools is changing work organization practices and redefining social relations within organizations. The aim of our article is to study the impact of enterprise social networks (ESN) on employees’ inclusion within organizations. We conducted a multiple case study of four companies through 59 semi-structured interviews and 50 hours of online non-participant observation. Our results highlight the ability of ESNs to strengthen the sense of belonging of employees but also to promote and enhance authenticity within organizations.
