Abstract

This article focuses on the social and ecological transitions of the cocoa sector. It focuses in particular on the work of the French Initiative for Sustainable Cocoa (IFCD). Launched by the private sector, this initiative is a response to the SNDI (National Strategy against Imported Deforestation), as mentioned in the founding text of the initiative. It also seeks to combat child labor and defend a decent income for producers. The interview, therefore, addresses the role of research within this initiative, as well as its expertise, deliberative, and collaborative processes.
