Abstract

The aim of this research is to evaluate the impact of two fair trade education schemes in France. This impact is measured by comparing the results of a control group with those of experimental fields. The proposed measurement instrument is very small in size (twenty items), while integrating four behavioral fields: the consumption of products from local agriculture, organic farming, fair trade, and the boycott of socially and environmentally irresponsible brands. Each behavioral field is assessed using three indicators: subjective knowledge, psychological distance, and recommendation intent. Four other indicators are included concerning the evaluation of the sustainability policy of academic institutions. The analysis of the stability of the measurement instrument, on the control group, was studied between 2019 and 2021, which allows the study of the impact of the COVID-19 crisis. The analyses on the two fair trade education schemes cover the year 2021. They show very significant impacts on the four behavioral fields studied and on the evaluation of academic institutions.
