Abstract

Our article aims to better understand the creation and emergence phase of an organisation. The work in this field underlines the ambiguity of this phase and the need to better understand it by diversifying methodologies and theoretical approaches. We extend this work to the analysis of an entrepreneurial project specific to its collective dimension and its responsible commitment. We adopt an exploratory and qualitative approach to study this project to create a third place dedicated to economic and social innovation in La Rochelle (17). We demonstrate that the ambiguity of the phenomenon of organisational emergence is accentuated in this type of collective and responsible project. The specificities of the latter enrich and, at the same time, complicate the key variables (entrepreneur, organisation and environment) to be apprehended during this phase. We also highlight the importance of values (ethical values and shared societal values), initially held by the entrepreneurs, which make it possible to link social entrepreneurship, CSR and the social economy.
