Abstract

The issue of work flexibility questions scholars to both the causes and the factors that contribute to
its emergence and the manner of its expression. The first question refers broadly to epistemological
and methodological issues. Answer it involves updating the context that prevailed at the onset and
the development issues of work flexibility but also building models that may facilitate the theorizing
and therefore understanding this phenomenon.
The text offers both exposing the precepts of a scientific approach of work flexibility and presenting
all the papers presented in this special issue of the ROR in a general interpretive approach of work
flexibility, mechanisms it entails and the impact it could have on the functioning of enterprises and
the overall economic model
