In response to the lack of societal models aligned with socio-ecological challenges, some individuals engage personally and professionally in the ecological transition. Here, we focus on project leaders who aim to contribute to socio-ecological transitions, in alignment with planetary boundaries. Drawing on their life stories, we aim to identify what enables and encourages them to take action. We report on how two committed collectives contribute to making this dual process of shifting and undertaking possible. We discuss the specificities and complementarities of these collectives as committed communities of practice and as emerging incubators. Within the literature on sustainable entrepreneurship, our contribution helps to enrich the notion of activist entrepreneurship and its support.
