Abstract

The aim of this paper is to investigate the theme of emotion not in terms of a logic of urgency and immediacy, but as a determinant of the construction of individual and collective identities impacting the representation of work, intrinsic motivation, and organizational behavior. We seek to bring to light a “hidden dimension of man in the organization” (Chanlat 1990) that is decisive for the appreciation of diversity in organizations. By mobilizing a strategy of access to reality based on an ethno-sociological and clinical biographical approach, the paper will try to highlight a “psychological contract” among executives in local government.
