A great deal of empirical research has focused on the study of explanatory factors of SME growth related to the characteristics of the leader, but few of these studies have taken into account the influence of the leader's personal values. This study seeks to fill this gap by focusing solely on the personality variables of the leader in a Cameroonian context. Our results show that the leader's desire for autonomy, self-esteem, and ethics have a positive and significant influence on the growth of this type of business.
