Abstract

The liberated company, replacing a logic of competence with one of “talent,” is usually presented as a major innovation. The thesis proposed here is that the liberated company and its “talents” actually designate a new stage in a continuous and groping process of transformation of management models and organizations, linked not only to the renewal of technologies and people, but also to the exposure of both economic and social deficiencies in large neo-Taylorized organizations. Not the least of the paradoxes being that this new organizational and management model has been promoted by both liberals and libertarians.
