Abstract

Using control to build trust in organizations? No way! And yet. . . This research, conducted with employees and managers of an organization that has chosen trust as an organizational principle, invites us to consider how control makes it possible to develop not a paradoxical trust, but an assured trust. This requires a combination of a positive view of the individual and a willingness to embrace risk rather than control it, allowing control to be used cooperatively for the common good.
