The new Egyptian Constitution : Context and progress

Abstract

In order to understand the new Egyptian Constitution ratified by the referendum on January 14^th and 15^th 2014 after the Egyptian army regained power, it seems important to both consider the Constitution through the very specific context of Egypt and through Egyptian constitutional history. The new Constitution includes articles of the former Constitutions. It reasserts the state’s authoritarian power but also takes into account some benefits of the revolution.
