Abstract

This text is a transcript of the author’s speech at the JGEM one-day seminar held on February 1, 2013. It describes the emergence and development of the current funding arrangements of French hospitals, i.e. activity based financing. It focuses on the debates and hesitations surrounding the project and on the growing complexity of the system, which makes it difficult to assess.
