Developing an inventory of individual meta-values

In a context marked by increased work centrality, the alignment of individual and organizational values is fundamental for human resource management. However, the definition of ‘value’ varies significantly between authors and disciplines, and many instruments have been created to measure values. This work aims to clarify the concept ‘value’ and proposes an inventory of individual values that reduces the reliability, efficiency, and control biases commonly found in the various scales. A four-step method for creating better conceptual definitions in organizational behavior and social sciences is used. The resulting definition is then mobilized through seven rigorously detailed steps to propose a new inventory of 61 individual meta-values divided into eight categories: the Individual Meta-Value Inventory (IMVI).
