The reign of the end. On the end of humanity

Abstract

The subject of the end of humanity, understood in terms of gender and number, is more or less confusedly on everyone's mind. As for humanity in numbers, the problems posed by pollution, overpopulation, overexploitation of resources, and the growing threat of global conflicts take precedence. But as for humanity as such, the increasingly realistic hypothesis of its biotechnological surpassing dominates. It has therefore become urgent to seek to reformulate the very concept of humanity, integrating the modern cultural and scientific determinations that are causing the crisis of our former certainties, and even our regime of meaning itself.
