Abstract

The figure of the whistleblower has been little studied in relation to organizational silence (OS). However, if a whistle is blown, it is because, first, there is silence, this silence being both concealing and socializing. In this article, we highlight the interdependent relationship between OS and whistleblowing. Then, we propose a general definition of OS and its characteristics before identifying a new typology in relation to the whistleblower. Finally, we emphasize the central importance of the whistleblower for any corporate ethics policy.
