Abstract

This paper intends to investigate the sustainability of the tourism in Tunisia
and the authors look specifically at the Saharan tourism in the area of GafsaTozeur in Tunisia. This kind of activity is intended to boost the tourism
activity in Tunisia.
First of all, the authors show the limits of the analysis of welfare economics.
Then, they use an approach in terms of indicators in sustainable tourism and
time series econometrics. The data used in this study are annual, covering the period 1972-2013 at the national level and the period 1977-2012 at the
regional level. The authors use also the techniques of cointegration and the
error correction model to measure the impact of the tourism development
on the Tunisian economic growth. Finally, they show the difficulties of the
Saharan tourism to overcome the limitations of the mass sun and sand model the period 1972-2013 at the national level and the period 1977-2012 at the
