Abstract

In Chile there is an evident lack of equity in the distribution of revenue. This inequality creates problems in the field of healthcare. This unfair situation constitutes an infringement of human dignity, since all human beings are equal by nature. It goes against social justice, equity and the dignity of the human person. This article aims to apply principles that come from the social doctrine of the Catholic church to the field of healthcare. It offers alternatives so as to facilitate analysis and assessment of the interaction between these principles and the medical data. This document also exposes the subtle differences between the concepts of equity and equality which are often confused and used indiscriminately. The definition and specificity of these terms is the aim of this article.
