In 1927, a year after his first published use of the term, Fritz Jahr wrote an important article under the title “Bio-Ethics”, where he stated that in his time, a sharp boundary between animal and human realm could no longer be maintained. 1 His reflections took their cue from results of experimental research and the enormous growth of scientific knowledge in those years. These new developments prompted Jahr to formulate new ethical demands, taking into consideration all living beings, not only humans.
