REINFORCEMENT OF PRF-ARMED CONCRETE POSTS AND CONCRETE LINING
Abstract
The reinforced concrete columns are important elements inbuilding structures. They support the vertical loads and providebracing against the horizontal loads.The disorders occurred ofthese elements are often due to degradations of the materialsused or augmentations of operating charges in case of change infunctionality. In order to remedy this problematic, it is essentialto carry out the reinforcement or repair methods: concretejacketing and confinement by composite fabric. The objective ofthis work is to study the effect of lateral confinement by carbonfiber fabric and lining concrete on the bearing capacity of asquare concrete column and the comparison between the twomethods of strengthening. The results obtained showed that theconfinement of the concrete by FRP fabric increasing a capacityon resistance and deformations of columns without increasingthe weight of the elements, but the lining concrete considerablyincreases the capacity on resistance and the weight of elementswhich requires resizing foundations, but decreases the ductility.
