STUDYING THE LOCAL MECHANICAL BEHAVIOR OF RECYCLED ASPHALT PAVEMENTS USING THE GRID METHOD
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to characterize the mechanical be-havior of Recycled Asphalt Pavements (RAP) using a full-field measurement technique: the grid method. For this purpose, mixes containing different amounts of RAP were studied. Aggregates of different colors have been used to distinguish the virgin materials from the recycled ones. Compression tests were then carried out on cylindrical samples and the displa-cement and strain fields were measured from the images of grids captured during the test. The obtained results show that the effect of RAP inclusion of on the local and global behavior of the asphalt mixes can be quantified using the grid method
