Abstract

In beginning of the XXI century a focus is done on buildingcollective awareness in order to respect as possible ourenvironment. In addition to using new cleaner materials, it isnecessary to think of new construction systems. With anoptimization purpose, these materials must be carefully placed ina composite structure in order to use their best mechanicalproperties positive. This work concerns the development of wood-reinforced UHPCconcepts reinforced by alternative FRP rebars (carbon, glass),all assembled by bonding. The studies involve glulam beamsreinforced UHPC boards arranged in compression zone and FRPreinforcements are placed in the tensile area. Different in tensilezone reinforcement solutions are processed. Four point bendingtest are done to evaluate the mechanical behaviour. Allexperimental studies contributed to the development of globalcomputing methods to predict the behavior of such compositestructures.Analysis of the results show that combining wood-UHPC is avery effective solution from the point of view of resistance atUltimate Limit State but also in terms of Serviceability limitstates which are most often the limiting factors in woodenstructures. Studies also show that the combination of materials aswood and UHPC could allow the development of wood materialsundervalued at present because they are considered too low forindividual use in the field of construction.
