A NEW HERITAGE WORK IN UHPC, DISTINCTION OF THE 2014 ÉQUERRE D’ARGENT - THE INTERNATIONAL MEMORIAL OF NOTRE-DAME DE LORETTE

Abstract

Under the ownership of Region Nord Pas de Calais, the ArchitectPhilip Prost designed an International Memorial inrememberance of the 579 606 soldiers, from numerousnationalities, killed on the West Front in World War One. TheMemorial has hosted the November 11th, 2014 Commemoration,led by the French President.The Architect and the Engineer designed the ring-shapedpedestrian structure with Ultra High Performance FiberReinforced Concrete. The ring includes a pre-stressed deam, witha 57 meters central span.The memorial was erected by EIFFAGE teams, with 2 of itsspecific products : BSI®, the UHPFRC concrete used on theviaduc de Millau toll, and DSI® pre-stressing system
