Abstract

Bouygues Travaux Publics has just completedthe expansion ofthe existing plant, called Grésillons 2. The purpose of thisextensionis to tripletheprocessing capacity ofthe existing planttomeet300000m3of treatedwater per day. This projectinvolvesthe constructionof thirtybuildings, part of which is enclosedinthe existing plant. 15 monthsofcivil workswere neededto poorsome90000m3ofconcreteanderectall the buildings. Nearly900people were mobilizedonsite,up to 18tower craneshavebeen installed, and 11,000 tons of steel reinforcement wereimplemented. One of these buildings, called the “Biostyr”,represents on his own 38000 m3of concrete. The study of thisnon-standard building (300m long and 47m wide) allowed us todevelop around two axes:– The establishment of a 3D “Digital Mockup».– A comparative study of the french design rules (BAEL andFascicule74) with the new european “Eurocode 2” rules.
