BENCHMARK OF DEFORMATION SENSORS BASED ON BRAGG NETWORK OPTICAL FIBERS FOR REINFORCED CONCRETE STRUCTURES
Abstract
This study aims at benchmarking several strain sensorsbased on optical fibers with fiber Bragg grating (FBG).For this purpose, two reinforced concrete beams have beentested in three point bending up to ultimate limit state. Themeasures are in good agreement with other measurementsperformed by means of either digital image correlation atthe surface of the beam, or by means of a predictive numer-ical model. However some limitations are met regardingthe cracking of the concrete in terms of damage of the sen-sor anchorage or reaching the measurement limit across awidely opened crack.
