Abstract

In order to test non-destructive testing methods on reinforced concrete pipes with a sheet core, a prototype for the creation of artificial defects is under development. This article describes the first part of this study, the aim of which is to create a corroded zone of controlled size by attack of chlorides on a targeted zone. An experimental methodology, based on the principle of the migration of chlorides under the influence of the electric field, is established by studying the kinetics of the migration of chlorides in concrete using chemical measurements (consumption of chlorides: Cl %) and electrochemical measurements (corrosion potential Ecorretresistance of polarization Rpapp). This method is validated by autopsy of the proof bodies and the analysis of the sheet metal core after the attack. The size of the faults created depends on the current application time and the size of the chloride supply sleeve. The size of the defects corresponds approximately to double that of the sleeve when the kinetics of the migration reach its threshold (ΔE and Rpapp curve).
