Abstract

This paper summarises the results obtained from the numer-ical simulations of an operative measurement mode of polar-ization resistance adapted for evaluating the corrosion ofreinforced concrete on cooling towers. A simple operativemeasurement mode of Rpis proposed, adapted for coolingtowers submitted to corrosion due to carbonation. By meansof numerical experimentations, abacuses and correctionlaws are built involving the different influencing parameters:steel reinforcement’s concrete cover, concrete resistivity andcurrent intensity injected from the counter electrode. Finally,a first application of the proposed procedure for calculatingthe real value of Rp in laboratory conditions is presented.
