EFFECT OF ANTENNA POLARIZATION ON THE IDENTIFICATION OF VOIDS BY GPR
Abstract
GPR is an electromagnetic non-destructive inspectiontechnique that is used in many fields. GPR is adopted incivil engineering for its advantages of speed and non-destructive capabilities. It can detect buried objects, rebars, pipes but also voids, the latter being the most inju-rious defect in concrete structures. By using a GPR with acenter frequency of 2 GHz, we tried to determine theimpact of the polarization of the electric field on the detec-tion of voids implanted in a concrete slab.
