According to PAHO: Climate change is the greatest global health threat of the 21st century. Health is and will be affected by climate change through direct impacts (heat waves, droughts, severe storms and sea level rise) and indirect impacts (respiratory and vector-borne diseases, food and water insecurity, malnutrition and forced displacement). In short, human and animal health are interdependent because they share the same ecosystem. Living together in the same environment requires a constant balance.
