Abstract

Public policy on abortion is a crucial matter that impacts women’s health. Globally, approximately 73 million abortions take place annually. In China, the abortion rate is steadily increasing. This article centers on the topic of abortion rights and public health in China. Alongside providing an overview of abortion in the country, it discusses existing laws and regulations to grasp their implications and current challenges. Five proposals are put forth to enhance China’s overall abortion access system and promote a greater understanding of the safety of abortion for women’s health.
