The late 20th century was marked by profound changes in the research of thewell-being of the unborn child. Initially, medicine allowed women and couples tocontrol the number of children they wanted to have. subsequently, medicineprotected them, in many cases, from severe diseases or recurrence of knownfamily genetic diseases in the unborn child. Thus antenatal diagnoses techniquesfirst appeared. In England, as in many other countries, a framework hassubsequently proved to be necessary as their development progressed. Despitethis framework, given this development the question arises whether thesetechniques are a source of relief or conflict.
