Abstract

Forty years after the Veil law, more than ever, the protection of the embryo or fetus is required because of the possible abuses to which it may be subject. Certainly, undeniable scientific and medical progress is being made in the fight against serious genetic and infectious diseases, which is in the interests of the health of future children. However, there are increasing risks of manipulations directed towards ends other than those of health: improving the human being, choosing à la carte the characteristics of the future child so that he meets the best societal criteria of health, sex, aesthetics and intelligence
