Abstract

The technicalization of surgery is a phenomenon that began more than a century ago and the process has accelerated since the second half of the 10th century1. From an intrepid artist with skillful and swift hands, the surgeon has grown to the status of a technician who learns to use the field of instrumentation. The surgeon's hand tends to leave the flesh.
