As professionals, doctors have a contractual relationship with society that
trains them and confers on them exclusive power to practice medical care. In
the contract, power and responsibility should be balanced. When the power is
conferred by society to a profession, the profession should take responsibility
for society, including the provision of high quality services, and maintain high
standard principled conduct and integrity
