About the Journal
History
Created in 1990 by Prof. L. Roche (forensic medicine) and Mr. Ch. Byk (magistrate, specialist in international law), the JIB is a bilingual quarterly journal devoted to a multidisciplinary and international approach to science, ethics and society. It constitutes a forum for reflection and analysis of issues related to the bioethics movement that has developed since the 1980s. It seeks to promote academic work from a scientific policy development perspective. It places particular emphasis on the geo-cultural and globalization aspects of techno-scientific problems.
Editor
Since the mid-1990s, Editions ESKA has ensured the continuity of the work undertaken within Editions A. Lacassagne.
Content
Since 1996, the journal has produced themed issues comprising 4 to 6 articles of 15 to 20 pages each, intended to evaluate in a multidisciplinary manner the aspects relating to the chosen theme. There are also various sections: the publication (in French and English) of opinions from national and international bioethics committees (the JIB is the only book to offer this service in the world), articles on clinical ethics, reviews of books (if possible in relation to the chosen theme), and an editorial.
The topics covered are very varied and do not intend to be limited to biomedical techniques alone, but to open up a wide spectrum of analyzes also touching on issues of health, the environment and culture.
Public
This is not only an audience of researchers and academics, but also practitioners or organizations active in the field of ethics of science. This is to promote a transdisciplinary approach to offer a wider audience the keys to understanding the major social changes in our societies with regard to the development of science and technology
