The research, reported in this article, aims at
understanding how the acceptability of ICT is built in
professional contexts of service. In this objective, the
authors use the data resulting from an acceptability
investigation, led through semi-directive interviews
with 83 professionals working in service organisations, about a house automation technology. The
research highlights three dimensions, which may be
taken by the acceptability of a technology: functional
acceptability, financial acceptability and socio-ethical
acceptability. It shows, in addition, the influence of
individual and organisational intrinsic factors on
the reasoning, which underlies the acceptability of
technologies.
