Forms of violence in Mexico in the twenty-first century

Abstract

Mexico in the twenty-first century is characterized by a worrying rise in violence and a proliferation of acts of cruelty. Undoubtedly tied to the rise in drug trafficking, this violence has taken a central place in public debate in Mexico, and it has weakened the government due to its inability to cope. Who are the actors in this violence? What relations do they maintain with other social players, from the bottom to the top of the social pyramid? How are these phenomena tied to the question of the law and inequality in the political community?
