Abstract

Advance directives occupy a small place in the medical decision-making process. In order to strengthen it, it is above all necessary to encourage their use by adapting their conditions of validity and supporting their authors to express and make their wishes known. It is also important to respect the principle according to which the directives are binding on the doctor, by retaining a strict interpretation of the exceptions allowing them to be ruled out.
