Abstract

France is marked by the existence of social health inequalities that particularly affect vulnerable populations. The development of physical and sports activities (PSA) constitutes a lever to modify the physical destiny of the most deprived and thus improve their social conditions of existence. The article specifies the foundations of these inequalities, their consequences and reports on the difficulties faced by researchers who wish, within a multidisciplinary framework (social psychology and sociology), to physically test individuals and increase their PSA practice rates. Modest results show that the conditions for change are possible by adopting a qualitative research approach based on the continuous presence of the researcher in the field and adapted psychosocial interventions.
