The mining revival in Western Europe

Abstract

For this special issue of Entreprises et Histoire magazine on mining companies and transitions, we would like to discuss the revival of mining in Western Europe at a time of transition and sovereignty issues. Indeed, there is currently talk of reviving mining activity due to serious energy issues, and several extraction projects have been announced, both in Sweden and France. Based on these various projects, we seek to understand the policies, strategies, and discourse surrounding the revival of mining activity, which raises many economic, environmental, and social questions.
