Abstract

In the first part of the paper, we describe two static instruments of recidivism among sex offenders-the STATIC-99
and the SORAG. In the second part, we evaluate the static risk level of sex offenders from the French judiciary
system. We also evaluate the discriminant validity of the two instruments. The results suggest that the level of static
risk is higher among inmate sex offenders than non inmate sex offenders. The comparisons between types of sex
offenders reveal that rapists present higher scores than child molesters or mixed sex offenders. The results are
discussed in the light of the international literature.
