Abstract

Beyond of a simple description, this research tempts to reveal the main explanatory sociocultural factors of the commercial behavior of small scale enterprises in Africa empirically. The methodology implemented to reach this goal includes two phases: a qualitative phase (based on observations, semidirective interviews and expert interviews) and a quantitative phase based on a questionnaire, structured with attitude ladder basis, distributed to 308 agribusiness in Benin and in Senegal. Among the twelve socio-cultural factors revealed during the qualitative survey, three were proved to be factors that determine greatly the commercial behavior of SSE leaders. Four appeared as being factors that don’t determine much the concerned leaders in their commercial behavior.
