Abstract

Since September 11th 2001 we live in a radically changed world-in fact, an age of crisis. In this new era, crises are global and intensive media coverage of these events will transform our economic prospects. Where do these crises start? When do they end? Serial crises can become illegible, and the job of risk management changes dramatically. Risk intelligence, a collective reading of crises, identifies risks, evaluates them, and establishes a hierarchal order to bring them under control. In this unique model of risk assessment and management, men and women organize themselves into communities to collect and interpret relevant information. The centralized memory of all these interpretations becomes a decisional data bank. Risks, treats, and vulnerabilities are acutely evaluated in relation to each other. Risk intelligence coordinates safety and security, as well as environmental and managerial risks. In business in the post – 9/11 world, everything that affects performance now depends on intelligence of the risks.
