The goal of this article is to give a progress report on the legal attempts at personal information protection. How to protect the person in the respect from her privacy whereas the marketers seek to collect more and more information on the consumer? How to protect the person facing with the multiple methods of gathering and data processing collected? After a history of the perception of privacy, delicate concept to seize, we propose the European and French legislative texts which try to protect the person, by explaining their goals and the difficulties of implementations.
