INFORMATION GOVERNANCE IN ORGANIZATIONS : PROPOSAL FOR A UNIFIED EVALUATION FRAMEWORK
Keywords:
information governance, ininformation governance policy, information management, data governance, information systemAbstract
Information governance is taking an increasingly important place in organisations. However, its evaluation has received little attention in the research. This article examines this subject from a more global perspective by integrating an archival and documentation view. It offers a holistic and inclusive assessment approach with criteria derived from systems theory and general principles of records management. This article argues that the evaluation of the information governance policy is the result of the evaluation of the strategic objectives it pursues, the structures it implements, the activities it carries out, the interaction with its environment, its ability to take charge of information management, and finally its adaptability to any changes it may face.
