Abstract

This article is part of a broader reflection on the relative authority of the artist
over their time of production. Thus, by
surfacing the problem of evaluation of
finished works, the incertitude concerning the artists working process is introduced to the negotiation between artists
and art-professionals and puts the collective dimention of the project management to the test. From a communicational
approach, the article studies this interplay
of tension by comparing numerous
examples of artist recidencies. We discern
a discontinous mechanism of consecration of the artist, based on a principle of
postponement of decisions, similar to the
model of “incomplete contracts
