Abstract

This paper offers an overview of how German higher education institutions are addressing the challenges associated with teaching sustainability. It illustrates the ongoing reforms aimed at implementing new programs, innovative pedagogy, advanced research initiatives, and campus transformations. These challenges are crucial for fostering an interdisciplinary perspective essential to comprehensively address the concept of sustainability. Furthermore, this paper argues that these structural reforms necessitate a corresponding transformation in higher education governance to ensure their long-term impact.
