Abstract

How can we understand and characterize the Chilean political experience today, more than forty years after the coup that made Chile not only the theater of an authoritarian dictatorship, but also the first laboratory of the neoliberal project? Research conducted by Kathya Araujo and Danilo Martuccelli, Desafíos comunes. Retrato de la sociedad chilena y sus individuos, challenges interpretations that oppose the influence of the neoliberal matrix and the restoration of a democratic regime. It shows how democratic ideals have become an organizing principle of society at all levels. From now on, actors and institutions face new tensions, which are explored in this masterful study.
