Authors Guideline

Paper proposals submitted to Musurgia must meet the standards below. For anything not specified here, authors will be guided by the presentation of recent issues of the journal.

1. Text
Articles should not exceed 40,000 characters (including spaces) in total, including notes and bibliography. The text will be subdivided into parts preceded by brief headings, not exceeding two levels of headings. In view of the double-blind review process, the text of the article should be anonymous. Texts should be sent to the Editor in a word-processed version (.DOC or .DOCX) with the insertion of any images, doubled by a PDF version for reference.

The texts of the articles will be accompanied, in a separate file, by an abstract in French and in English, each of a maximum length of 1200 characters including spaces, the mention of the author's titles and qualifications, as well as his or her e-mail and postal addresses.

2. Musical examples, graphics, boxes, tables, etc.
The musical examples, graphics, boxes and tables will be numbered and presented in TIF, JPG or PNG computer format, with a resolution of at least 600 dpi. These illustrations will be included in the word-processed documents, but must also be provided separately. They will be accompanied by precise captions (author, work, measurement numbers, bibliographical references, etc.). The useful format of the magazine is 12.5 x 19.25 cm, usable in "portrait" or "landscape" orientation. Illustrations can be provided in a larger format, but must take into account that they will be reduced to these dimensions. References to these examples and illustrations will be included in the body of the article, and their exact location cannot be determined a priori. Citations of protected works must be accompanied by a reproduction authorization, which the author will be responsible for obtaining.

3. Bibliographical references
Each article will provide precise bibliographic references for the works cited in a bibliographic list following the text. In the course of the text, references to this list in footnotes may be abbreviated to the title of the work. Musurgia does not practice the date reference system.

Full references will meet the following standards:

Books: Surname, First name(s), Title, any additional details on the title page (e.g. concerning the preface, translation, etc.), place, publisher, date. [Additional information, if any].
For example :
Rameau, Jean-Philippe, Traité de l'harmonie réduite à ses principes naturels, preface by Jean-Michel Bardez, Geneva, Slatkine Reprints, 1992. Facsimile of the first edition, Paris, Ballard, 1722].
Wellesz, Egon, and Frederick Sternfeld (eds.), The Age of Enlightenment 1745-1790 (The New Oxford History of Music 7), London, Oxford University Press, 1973.

Articles: Surname, First name(s), "Title of article", Name of journal, tomaison (date), pages. [Additional information may be required].
Example :
Brown, A. Peter, and James T. Bertenstock, "Joseph Haydn in Literature: a Bibliography," Haydn Studies III (1974), pp. 173-352.

Discography: Author, Work, Performer(s), nature of medium, publisher, date, publisher's number.
For example: :
Chopin, Frédéric, studies, François-René Duchàcirc;ble, CD Erato, 1981, 2292-45178-2.

In the bibliographical list, the first name follows the name of the first author. For the possible following authors and in the footnotes, the authors' first names precede their last names. Names are in small capitals or lower case, never in capitals.

4. Editing protocol
The author will be able to reread the first proofs of his article, which he will send back corrected as soon as possible. Proofreading concerns only printing errors; author's modifications are forbidden. The author will receive a copy of the journal issue by post.
