Abstract

The concept of the “BRICs” first emerged in a report published in 2001 by the economist Jim O’Neill of Goldman Sachs’ Investment Research Division.
His work highlighted the term to refer to future leading economies in the world. Consequently, it gained significant traction as a proposition for the
formation of the BRICS economic bloc. This concept denotes a group of emerging countries experiencing the highest growth rates globally, consisting
of Brazil, Russia, India, and China. In 2009, these nations decided to convene and discuss the potential benefits of cooperation. Subsequently, in 2010,
the BRIC officially became BRICS with the inclusion of South Africa into the group.
